Closer to the Moon - Lunar Mood Charting System

20.00

This set is NOT a lunar calendar, but it IS something even more unique, fun and useful. It is a system for charting your moods and experiences as they relate to the rhythms of the moon over the course of a year, and the way we have it set up, you can start anytime of year. Each set comes with 12 beautifully illustrated moonwheels, a product insert that has fabulous information and instructions on how to use the system and is packaged in a simple black envelope (as pictured).

So, why is it useful to track your responses to the moon?

Because getting closer to the moon will bring you closer to yourself! You will likely make important discoveries about your body, your longings, natural inclinations, and invariably cyclical nature. You may even be surprised by what you learn, draw insight that helps reorder priorities or awaken long lost, or slumbering dreams. As our ancestors have shown us (see product insert for more on this), respecting the rhythms of dark and light, introversion and extroversion, has the power to shape entire cultures. In this way such a simple dedication, a dedication to authenticity based on deep listening, is also a form of cultural activism and has the power to restore sanity and balance to the world.

A BIT ON HOW YOU USE THE SYSTEM:

We want you to have fun, get creative, and make this process your own. We also want it to be easy for you to get in the swing of it so we’ll make a few suggestions to help get you started.

As we mentioned above, the kit includes twelve lunar wheels, three for each season, that loosely correspond with calendar months. You can switch them around if desired. Dark/new moon is a time of new beginnings, we suggest that you start your charting process at the next new moon.

Included is a key code of super simple pictograph symbols that indicate various moods/experiences/feelings you may have in the course of a lunar month. Use these little symbols to quickly capture your daily experience, which will obviously add up to your monthly, yearly, etc, rhythmic experience in response to the moon. You can convey the opposite of any of the symbols by a circle with a slash over top of it. If you do menstruate, we suggest you also chart your cycle..coloring the moons red on bleeding days works well and keeps it simple. We intended for these to be used by individuals but since sharing them with the world have found that some mamas share the charting experience with their kiddos, which is a pretty fabulous way to build/strengthen intimacy.

Credit where credit is due - this version of this creation came out of a collaborative effort of those of us who meet weekly for Diana Circle (a girl’s group centered on magical feminism): Nyah Selassie, Nora Berry, Maya Baum, Addy Lyons and myself, their wild elder mentor, ShuNahSii Rose. While we all worked on the concept and the details of the system, the extraordinary original artwork is by Addy Lyons, with graphic assistance by Maro Beauchamp. In homage to a phenomenal ancestor of the feminist spirituality movement, we honor Shekhinah Mountainwater, who first introduced me to the idea of moon/mood charting, we are building on the path she laid before us as she is now with the ancestors.
